Mars is using digital, data and user insights to transform their business and answer new questions that have never been asked before.
A global company that is not just well known for their chocolate bar, Mars has multiple parts to their business including Petcare, Food, Wrigley, and Edge. They’re using digital, data and user insights to transform their business and answer new questions that have never been asked before.
Data Idols were engaged by Mars to assist them throughout a particularly busy period of hiring (even during a pandemic!) where they needed contractors to join them on a tight budget and within specific deadlines to get new projects completed and delivered.
They also had several open high-level key positions across DataOps, Data Engineering and MarTech. Each role was incredibly niche with very few candidates available for each position, and so they were struggling to fill these positions directly.
Working to tight deadlines and within a constantly changing market, Data Idols was briefed on four contract roles which we took to our network of engaged and active candidates all within specific budgets. We worked with Mars to ensure a fast interview process, which works best both with contractors and to keep in line with Mars’ targets.
For Mars’ permanent positions, these were much more of a different search for us. They were very high-level and niche roles surrounding Dataops, Data Engineering and MarTech, each with their own unique challenges. Not only did we take these roles to our active and engaged network, but we also used our expertise to build bespoke searches to headhunt key individuals. We then provided honest advice and support to both the candidates and Mars throughout the entire process.
Working with Data Idols is an enjoyable and refreshing recruitment experience. They have helped us fill critical contract roles and helped to shape our long term data professional workforce by sourcing niche expertise.
Each contract opportunity was quickly sourced for, with high quality CVs being sent within an average of 36 hours. We knew speed was a driver for Mars due to their tight deadlines, and we worked with them to place four contractors of varying roles and levels in an average of 11 days from briefing to offer acceptance.
On the permanent side, head hunting and niche searching meant that we secured three permanent placements, all that were key and high-level roles. In fact, one DataOps role was filled within just a month of the job briefing and the placed candidate was submitted within just 48 hours!
Moving forward, Mars has also begun to focus on diversity initiatives and further improve their tech branding so they will be better placed to directly fill these difficult roles in the future. We have therefore offered support with the events in the form of the Data Science Festival where they will be involved in our Data Idols Summer School.
