Meet the Data Idols Team - Data Science Recruitment Specialists

David Loughlan

Founder

David spent his early career working in technical roles, initially with Digital Unix Mainframes (showing his age), then Sun Solaris and Apache web servers, before specialising in data as a DBA.

He is now the Director at Data Idols, a recognised leader in the data recruitment industry. To date, he has successfully scaled data functions for some of the UK’s best-known technology companies. Over the last five years, David has built a community of 30,000 data professionals as the Founder of the Data Science Festival, the UK’s largest free to attend data science event.

Outside the world of data, he has a weird talent for attracting stray dogs on holiday, loves fish and chips by the sea and has successfully co-launched a yoga business.

Charlotte Heggie

Operations Manager

Charlotte has been working in the recruitment field for almost a decade. With a focus on data and technology, she applies her expertise to motivate and inspire the Idols teams for success.

Charlotte manages the entire tech stack and works closely with all teams to ensure the right process and practices are in place. She also really enjoys being part of the Data Science Festival, especially events that encourage individuals to grow and develop their data careers.

Outside of her role as Operations Manager, she has a weird talent for Facebook Marketplace bargain hunting and enjoys baking and swimming. However, she’s not a fan of spicy food or camping!

Jess Willis

Community Director

Jess helped to launch the Data Science Festival in partnership with Data Idols in 2015 and has seen it grow to over 30,000 members in that time.

Her aim for the Data Science Festival is to educate, mentor and inspire attendees wherever they are on their data career journey, and to foster a love for STEM in a diverse community.

Outside of work, Jess likes cats, tattoos and vintage dresses but hates burned toast, small talk and football. Her hobbies include yoga, wine tasting ? and focaccia baking.

Adam Tomlin

Managing Consultant

Adam manages numerous accounts across a variety of industries where he enjoys building strong and lasting relationships with key stakeholders.

Adam is an advocate of making sure candidates have a clear and transparent experience with Data Idols and loves building and promoting trust through the recruitment process. He engages with experts in the data space; be it in a recruitment capacity or via the Data Science Festival community at events or conferences.

When he’s not working, Adam is a bit of an adventurer. He loves to discover new places. He’s also into rugby, football and motorsports (especially F1) and is an excellent underwater swimmer. Although he loves the outdoors, he does not like spiders, mess or surprises.
